SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
According to the official definition, Sustainable Development is
"development that meets the needs of present-day generations without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs".
Sustainable Development is based on three pillars:
- Environmental Pillar
- Social Pillar
- Economic Pillar
Source: Wikipedia
The concept of Sustainable Development takes on its full meaning in the Farming sector. The three pillars of sustainable development are indirectly the founders of the farming profession. These professions place Man at the core of our concerns; men who know how to tame nature in order to produce and as such nourish the world.
VALOREX, through its Essential Values, has anchored its development in a Sustainable Development approach.
VALOREX'S VIEW ON SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
ENVIRONMENTAL PILLAR
VALOREX has created its differentiation on the incorporation of extruded linseed into animal feed. Flax, through its cultivation, but also as feed for cattle, is environmentally friendly.
Flax, an ecological culture:
o Flax favours biodiversity by breaking up single-crop farming.
o Flax is an excellent starter crop, and thanks to its roots, it prepares the soil for other cereal crops (soil aeration, nitrogen stabilisation in the ground).
o Flax is a species referred to as hardy: it requires little fertiliser and pesticides: it is by nature highly resistant to various animal aggressions and various diseases;
o Flax does not require much water, and requires little irrigation;
o The plant is fully valorised: its seed is used for human and animal feed, and its fibre is valorised in different ways (work in progress).
Flax, an ecological food
Flax incorporated into animal feed makes it possible not only to limit the quantity of maize or palm oil, and as such have an indirect positive action on the deforestation that is occurring in South America and in Indonesia but also has a substantial impact on reducing the emission of methane from cows.
Indeed, flax, or rather the Omega 3s that it is comprised of, play a role in the digestion of cellulose by the cow. As such, a cow that eats flax will belch (yes, methane is emitted at the front, and not at the rear as many people think!!) less methane than other cows (Martin et al.) 2008). Studies are underway to confirm these results at the meat sector level.
Flax is therefore an excellent candidate for limiting the impact of farming on the environment.
VALOREX, a committed company
In addition to the positive effects that flax has on the environment, VALOREX is working on limiting its environmental footprint by implementing various actions internally:
o Sorting waste
o Environmental awareness
o Awareness in terms of using paper
o Optimising travel
o Thought given to the use of energy resources
Every day, VALOREX strives to limit its impact on the environment and gives thought to improving how the environment is taken into account in its development.
SOCIAL PILLAR
VALOREX works every day on improving the working conditions of farmers and consumer health.
Well-being of the farmer
Through the implementation of flax in the ration of farm animals, the entire farm system improves. The animals are less ill and produce more. As such, VALOREX participates in valorising the profession, and makes farmers proud. "Healthy animals, happy farmers".
Well-being for the consumer
Adding flax to the ration of farm animals allows product quality to be improved. VALOREX therefore is active in improving consumer health and well-being. This is shown by the State's recognition for the Bleu-Blanc-Coeur association, an association committed to Farming with a Health Vocation.

VALOREX is constantly looking for feedback from its customers. Through the expertise of its technical sales representatives, its provides farmers with advice and support and trains farmers in new techniques (
,
, fatty acid profiles of milk, etc.). As such, farmers are developing new skills, and feel that they are being accompanied in their approach.
VALOREX is ensuring its development while respecting all of the men and women involved.
ECONOMIC PILLAR
Studies have shown that adding flax to the ration makes it possible to improve the economic profitability of the farm (Cogédis study)
| o More milk | |
| o More protein in the milk | IMPROVEMENT IN |
| o Better fatty acid profile of the milk | THE FARM'S |
| o Better body condition | PROFITABILITY |
| o Better health and fertility for the herd |
VALOREX has respect for the profession of farmers and strives to provide profitability for the farms that allows it to live.
By complying with the three Environmental, Social and Economic pillars, VALOREX is committed every day
to sustainable development for Sustainable Farming.
